This Shiraz opens with a bold and expressive nose of blackberry compote, blood plum, and black cherry, lifted by notes of star anise, cracked pepper, and dark florals. Beneath the fruit lies a savoury layer of graphite, ironstone and crushed spice, with a whisper of dried rosemary and cacao nib adding further intrigue.

On the palate, it’s powerful yet poised. A dense core of dark fruits – mulberry, plum skin, and blackcurrant – is framed by fine-grained tannins and a structural edge driven by Marananga’s trademark red clay over limestone soils. There’s a mineral thread running through the wine, offering freshness and lift to the otherwise full-bodied frame. Subtle oak integration delivers hints of mocha and toasted spice without overshadowing the fruit.

This is a classic expression of Western Barossa Shiraz – bold, brooding, and built on structure – yet handled with finesse. A true collaboration between site and winemaker, it showcases both Damien Tscharke’s precision and the pedigree of Marananga fruit.
